Oscar Dream Chaser A.K.A Drip Gawd A.K.A your stylist’s favourite stylist A.K.A the man who doesn’t pose threats but just poses for threads is a young creative from Joburg who started Dream Chaser Clothing. We had an opportunity to sit down with Oscar and this is how it went:
HJ: What inspires your personal aesthetic and style?
Oscar: It’s my love and passion for hip hop that influences and inspires my style a lot.
HJ: What do you do for fun?
Oscar: Hangout with friends and go outdoors
HJ: What does streetwear mean to you?
Oscar: Breaking boundaries by mixing different styles of wear that are provocative, bold and rebellious
HJ: What inspired Dream Chaser Clothing and what does the brand hope to achieve.
Oscar: The brand was inspired by my love for fashion and hip hop culture. The brands aim at inspiring urban, hip hop streetwear lovers to express themselves as dreamers and hustlers through the design of the clothes.
HJ: When was the brand started?
Oscar: It was started on the 24th of June 2014. And made official in 2015.
HJ: How has the audience received the brand so far?
Oscar: They get mesmerized by the brand’s bold and eccentric but yet elegant designs.
HJ: What is currently on rotation on your playlist?
Oscar: Lol, Flame’s Candy Man album.
HJ: Where do you see the future of streetwear in SA?
Oscar: Taking over the global market. The same way we see international brands circulating in SA’s streets. SA’s local streetwear brands will also have international recognition.
HJ: Do you have any big plans for the brand in the pipes that people can look forward to.
Oscar: Yes, franchising the business. With branches in every province across the country.
