Music, like many things we know actually never spawned out of nowhere, what are your views? Why do people enjoy a different genre of music from the next person, or is it just instincts kicking in? The real question is how did this mostly overlooked phenomenon become a strong determinant of our emotions, and our decisions and eventually our reality?

Given the current huge street culture movement, which is so influential and yet diverse.  Music has molded the reality of street culture as we know it. From the helm of the street lifestyle to its cradle. In order to have a clear understanding of this, we will have a simplified look into its history.

Other than the direct influence our music preference has on us, we can definitely argue that these influences are purely instinctive. And about “this”…. you are very correct.  But the basis of instincts comes from an overtime adaption mechanism. Music is a historical mechanism adapted to cope with any social situation we find ourselves in. This is why with every generation there is always a new genre that emerges from the depths of creative minds.

Findings from paleolithic archaeology sites suggest that prehistoric people used carving and piercing tools to create instruments. In prehistoric Egypt, music and chanting were commonly used in magical practices and rituals. In Asia, the Indus Valley civilization has sculptures that show old musical instruments. These Historical footprints are evident on the social organization it brought about.

Music was designed to solve a problem, a social one, a need to create a community. Today, it has created a future for those who loved it so much that it inspired the recreation of it. And it has molded different cultures. Most visibly the street culture.
