Director Stevinhio Wanda, along with cinematographer Siphesihle Mbhele, has concocted a visual narrative about the realities of love with this new music video for Emage’s “Buyaâ€. By taking inspiration from the opening of the classic Robert Zemeckis “Forrest Gump†movie, this music video flies through surrealistic landscapes, offering a visually-stunning representation of the topic, with its burgeoning artistic scenes. The visuals depict the story of a man who falls in love with a girl, then goes through the hardships of maintaining a relationship, and in the end, loses the girl of his dreams. No matter how hard he tries to get her back (As the title “Buya’ explains) he just cant seem to get her back.
The visuals for “Buya†avoid the clichés and norms of mainstream music videos by experimenting with long shots in order to elevate the overall message that the visuals try to convey. Watch Buya below and tell us what you think.
