For its debut A/W19 collection NOTGOOD.ENOUGH was forced to do a bit of introspection. Being in an era of selfies, self-medication, suicide and more recently the focus on mental health, “Self-Sabotage” in essence is a journey of introspection. The collection aims to explore the various ways in which we individually choose to interact with the different mediums around us and how these choices have an impact, not only on how we see the world around us but on the concept of one’s self.

The print takes inspiration from a network of paths and hedges designed as a puzzle through which one has to find a way, translation: a maze. In the context of the collection, the maze refers to the human mind and how we ourselves individually can self-construct a mental prison through the various mediums we choose to interact with.

The colours used in the collection each refer to an underlining theme, namely:

Yellow | Hope

Purple | Prosperity

Red | Love

Blue | Clarity

These themes all work hand in hand in achieving a perfect balance and harmony in the mind. It is through understanding one’s relationship with these themes do we begin to comprehend the impact of the choices we make regarding the mediums we choose to interact with and how they can lead to one’s “Self-Sabotage”

The collection is not a diagnosis but rather an ode for us to pay deeper attention to the mediums we choose to interact with and look to search within ourselves the reasons as to why we make those choices, to better understand ourselves.
